Over ten years since its release, a unique early version of Minecraft was thought to have disappeared. Minecraft alpha 1.1.1 was released for the original Java Edition in September 2010 and was accessible for a little over three hours, and now it's been rediscovered by gaming archivists. There have been hundreds of versions of Minecraft over the years, and fans have carefully saved and archived a lot of them in the interest of preservation. However, one particular version, called Alpha 1.1.1 or Seecret Saturday was believed to be lost forever. While it introduced sneaking and fishing rods to Minecraft however, it was found to have a game-breaking bug that caused the screen to turn completely gray. It was replaced in a matter of hours by version 1.1.2. @lunasorcery on Kotaku, told the whole story of its rediscovery on Twitter. Luna explains that Alpha 1.1.1 was a popular meme or holy treasure in Discord Omniarchive's Minecraft archiving Discord Omniarchive. Nobody believed they would find it. Someone stumbled across one of Luna's old tweets, and asked her about it, and she discovered an old backup of minecraft.jar dated the same as Alpha 1.1.1's release date of September 18, 2010. Luna checked the file and confirmed that it was Alpha 1.1.1 which she later posted about on Omniarchive - which blew up. Minecraft roleplay servers So I posted in the Omniarchive server and it would be an understatement to say that a few people noticed. Just from the reactions from the reactions, the reality of just the size of this find is starts to set in. I feel like I'm shaking.
